Foreign Language Proficiency Levels
Candidates who gain the right to register for a program that provides education entirely or partially in a foreign language are obliged to comply with the Regulation on the Principles to be Followed in Foreign Language Education and Foreign Language Education in Higher Education Institutions, the Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Foreign Languages School Foreign Languages Department Education-Teaching and Examination Regulation, and the Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Theology Compulsory Arabic Preparatory Class Education-Teaching and Examination Regulation.
Turkish Language Proficiency Levels
1) In order for candidates who gain the right to register to start education, they must have a Turkish Proficiency Certificate at the C1 level in programs where the language of instruction is Turkish and partially in a foreign language, and at least at the B1 level in programs where the language of instruction is entirely in a foreign language.
2) Students who gain the right to register must prove that they have been successful in the Turkish language proficiency exam to be held by Karaelmas (TÖMER) within our university or with Turkish Proficiency certificates obtained from other institutions and organizations and whose equivalence is approved by Karaelmas (TÖMER).
3) Those whose Turkish language proficiency is insufficient are given a period of 1 year during which they will be considered on leave. Those who cannot reach a sufficient level of Turkish at the end of one year are given an additional period of 1 year. However, this additional period is counted as part of the education period. Candidates who are on leave must prove that their Turkish language proficiency is sufficient at the beginning of the academic year following the year they gain the right to register, with a document obtained from Karaelmas TÖMER or Turkish language education centers accepted by YÖK and proving that the candidate is successful (at C1 level in programs where the language of instruction is Turkish and partially a foreign language, at least B1 level in programs where the language of instruction is completely a foreign language). Otherwise, they lose their right to register. 4) Turkish Language Proficiency certificates obtained at the C1/B1 level according to the European Language Portfolio (ADP) language levels in the results of the Turkish Diploma Exam conducted by the Turkish Education, Application and Research Center of Yunus Emre Institute and other universities and whose equivalence is approved by Karaelmas TÖMER are considered valid. They are registered to the program they have earned the right to register for and can start their education.
5) Preparatory education periods have been determined as a maximum of 2 years by Law No. 6569. All preparatory education (Turkish/English/German/Arabic) must be completed within the specified period. The registrations of those who cannot succeed in the preparatory education within this period will be deleted.
6) Candidates who want to be exempt from Turkish Language Education must submit their Turkish Proficiency Certificate (C1/B1 Level) to the relevant unit by the Education and Training start date specified in the Academic Calendar.
